Saturday -> Downtown Fun-Day

Hey,

On Saturday I felt much better, so I decided to go to the city. I took the train at 1:01 at Tarrytown and than the Subway 6 to Union Square, where my perfect Saturday really begun!
I made my way west towards the Hudson River along the 14th Street. I stopped at 9th Avenue to take some photos and continued my way to Chelsea Market.

There I took the stairs up to the High Line, which I walked until the end at Gansevoort street, when I saw a Harvest Fest going on at the corner of 9th avenue.
The band playing was really good and the apple pie by bubby's was delicious, even If I sat myself into the rest of another apple pie -.- I had a lot of fun at the fest.

I continued my way thru Greenwich Village and Meatpacking District until I reached the famous, original Magnolia Bakery. As expected the line was huge, so I just took a photo. Instead I went into a cheese store, which has really sold my favorite cheese! I really wanted to buy a piece, but good cheese in the US is sooooo expensive! A pound of this special cheese would have cost me about $30, which is insane compared to 10€ ($17) in Germany!

Walking along the Bleeker street I entered SoHo, where I visited one of my favorite Boutiques DASH and some other stores without buying anything - so proud of me.
Later I went thru Little Italy and Chinatown, which was absolutely amazing! It's like you enter a total different world! Just for interest I went into a Chinese supermarket and you could see the difference on first sight! There were hanging real fishes on the wall! I never saw something like that before, I swear!

All in all this Saturday was one of my best Saturdays in New York so far! Meatpacking District and Bleeker Street are now my favorite spots in the City! I really enjoyed it!

Mall Days

Hey,

This week I went to the Mall twice, to find a Halloween costume, but guess what, I didn't find one -.-
On Tuesday I bought a new party outfit, because I wanted to go out with my Roomies on Friday, related to one if them having Birthday. And I bought a shoe clean kit, for my Steve Madden heals.

On Thursday I planned to do nothing except sleeping, 'cause I was tired as shit. But than my roommates asked if I would like to go to the movies with them, so we went to the mall again.
There I just bought the birthday present for my Roomie and a clutch. The movie we watched was called "The best of me" and it was so sad. I really cried at the end! I never cry at the movies usually!

All in all the day was really awesome, even though I bought my party outfit and haven't worn it yet, because I was sick on Friday.

Level up

Hey guys,

I'm so happy that I passed the progress test! I'm on level C1.1 now, which is advanced English skills.

New level, new classes, new goals.
With the beginning of the level the classes don't really got harder, but I've the feeling that we do more, so that we don't spent so much time on stuff everybody already know, even If there is still stuff, which isn't knew to me at all!
For example, today we "learned" perfect tenses. I'm rather sure I learned that 100 times. And we started reading a book: the giver. In my opinion this book is okay. I've never been the person loving school books. I'd better like to spent my freetime differently.

Btw, I've got Netflix and I'm so excited to watch my favorite series 90210 again. I nearly spent 1,5h with it a Day.

Fun Friday: Backing

Hey guys,

Today we had our Fun Friday! Therefor my class and me went to Lugari kitchen and made Pancakes, French Toast, Candied Apples and Apple Pie.
It was so much Fun and of course super delicious, but now I feel like I couldn't eat sugar again for the rest of my life.
I never had a favor for sugar, but I had to try all this food, because when else would I get the chance to eat self made Pie in the USA?

I really enjoyed it, but in better go to the gym one and stay there forevere. :D

The great Jack o'Lantern Blaze

Hey,

I went to the Blaze yesterday and It was really cool! At first I had no idea what to expect, because I never heard of it before, but when I looked it up on the Internet I decided immediately to go there.
What is the blaze? Well, the blaze is kind of a pumpkin exhibition. The pumpkins are carved in really unique ways and there are statues and Halloween inspired installations. It's quite hard to explain, so I just let you take a look at my photos.

But after all I really recommend going there once, If you're in New York over Halloween.

Progress Test

Hej,

Yesterday I had my Progress Test, containing Listening, Reading, Grammar and Writing.
If first thought that the test might be pretty easy, but It actually was quite challenging!
My English isn't that bad, I think, but the test was awful!
The Writing and Grammar sections were easy or at least OK, but the Listening and Reading were just terrible! And I mean it's not that I never practice Reading or Writing, actually I watch English Videos every evening and I read 8 English novels in the past 2 months. Therefor I thought that it will be doable for me, but I just didn't have enough time at all!
I wasn't able to finish every task, especially the reading part was just guessing.

I'm quite curios about the result, because I don't want to spend another 6 weeks on this level. I'll get my results today, wish me luck!

Entering Europe in New York

Hey,

On Saturday we went to Brooklyn again and it was really nice, even if it was chilly and rainy outside.

We entered Brooklyn in Williamsburg/ Bredford Avenue, where you realized immediately that you're in another New Yorker Borough. The houses look more European in Williamsburg, they really remind me of the houses in Holland, and the peoples attitude is totally different, too. There were so many Hipsters! You won't believe it unless you saw it on your own!

Related to the chilly weather we decided to go shop hopping - there are so many cute shops in Williamsburg, but they are a little bit to expensive for Students.
Later we had dinner at an Thai restaurant, which was delicious. I finally found duck curry - yummy.
And than we took a cab to the Brooklyn Bridge Park, of which you have an amazing view on the Manhattan Skyline. And the park itself is really nice and ironically exactly there, where I was in Brooklyn last week, in Dumbo, next to the bookstore I liked.

We went back to Manhattan around 10pm, of course over the Brooklyn Bridge, where we saw the most beautiful moon ever.

All in all I really enjoyed my day, even If I got quite annoyed of our large group sometimes.
And whenever you miss Europe, just when to Brooklyn and feel home.
