Leaving

Hey,

My last week in New York is over and I landed at home safely last Sunday evening.
The days went by so fast the last week, so that I couldn't report on my blog any sooner than today.

My journey back home went as well as my journey to America 6 months ago not flawless.
At JFK I had to wait 2 hours until my plane finally started, there was just too much ice and snow. Therefore I landed 1 hour delayed in London and missed my connection so that I had to wait a total of 8,5h hours for the next BA flight to Hannover :/
The time seemed like it didn't move at all, but after 4 hours the time flew by. I just did what I always do: watching Netflix.

When I finally arrived at the airport in Hannover I was so happy to see my family again, that I first didn't realize, that my suitcases both were broken. Thank you BA!
Now I'm home for almost 4 days I got rid of my jet-lag and of course started eating my favorite foods. I'm really happy to be back, although I have to admit that I miss certain aspects of my stay in New York.

The End.

Photos to be added!

Graduation - Tarrytown

Hey,

On Friday the 13th February we had our graduation, of course with those typical heads. But without our grades, because we received those yesterday evening and I think I really enhanced my English! I got a C2 certificate, which means as good as a native speaker.
After the graduation there was a small reception with food and memory boards, but all in all it wasn't as spectacular as I thought.

Another day during that week I went thru Tarrytown just to take some photos as a memory, because Tarrytown is indeed a nice little town with typical American structure and buildings.
I can't believe that I might never see that place again.

See u.

Last weekend

Hey,

I'm blogging late again, but I had to enjoy my last week as much as possible.
At this moment I only have about 25 hours of my trip left and that really isn't a
lot :/

Anyway, last weekend I went to the city three times (3? Yes, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, which was free because of Presidents' Day). I didn't do a lot because of the cold, but I think I made the best out of my time.

On Saturday we went to Manhattan a little earlier than usual, because a friend of Marleen came to visit. After picking here up we went to soho, where I finally bought everything I still needed. Afterwards we took a walk thru Little Italy and Chinatown, where we ate Lunch in the "Cafe Roma". And I have to say that little Italy looks so cute when snow is falling!
Afterwards we already took the train back, because Marleens friend Caro had a lot of stuff with her, and because they wanted to be home earlier to go out at night. As usual here in the US I didn't went out, which was the right decision considering that I nearly fainted that night.

On Sunday we went to Manhattan again, but at the normal time. Me, who decided to buy a shirt I saw in soho, went back to soho, while the others went to Times Square, which Caro never saw before. Afterwards we met up in Grand Central and went back to Times Square for Lunch. We had lunch for a pretty long time there, because it was unbelievable cold! I think we maybe had -20° or less! Also we had to discuss what else to do that day, because it was definitely to cold to stay outside, wherefore we finally decided to see the "The wedding ringer" in a nearby cinema. When the movie was over it was already 7pm, so we went back to the Campus.

On Monday we had something special planned, so that we had to leave a little earlier again.
We wanted to go to Hoboken to take photos of the skyline, but the way there was more complicated than expected, because we didn't knew about the PATHs Holiday schedule, but when we finally reached Hoboken the view on Manhattan Downtown made up for that.
After taking lots of photos in the cold, we all just wanted one thing: a warm drink!
On our search we passed "Carlo's Bakery", which is quite famous, but the line was famous as well! Instead we decided, as usual for Starbucks, and I have to admit, that I love the Tiramisu flavored Latte!
We went back to Manhattan afterwards, brought Caro back to Grand Central and had dinner at "the pain qoutidien" afterwards, where I had a typical German whole wheat bread with my favourite cheese and ham, as well as pickles and olive mustard, which was delicious!
Afterwards we went back to the Campus, whereby the last weekend in New York was over.

See u.

2 weeks; 14 days

Hey guys,

I know this post is awfully late, but I was busy learning for me CAE exam. However, here I am reporting my last weekend to you.

On Saturday we did some shopping in Manhattan and went to dinner at Vapiano afterwards.
We started at Victoria Secret at Herald Square, where we already spent a nice amount if money and when we wanted to proceed to Bleeker street on of my friends realized that her portemonaie was missing. Panic raised and we were all just hoping that she might have left it somewhere, and that it wasn't stolen, because "toi, toi, toi" non of us was robbed yet, and in case she forgot it at the cashier in Victoria Secret, so that when we went back there two friendly cashiers were already waiting for her.

Having solved that problem we took the subway down to Bleeker Street, where we originally wanted to go to the Magnolia Bakery, but as if it was no surprise to us it was really full, so we decided to search another cafe.
Finally we ended up in "sugar and plum", which was more shop like, but we all just wanted a snack. And while eating our brownies we saw a bakery across the street, which kind of stupid.

After our pit-stop at the bakery we walked along Bleeker Str. until we reached the Broadway in Noho, where one of my friends finally found her Adidas Superstar shoes.
Getting hungry and tired we took the subway to union square and went to nordstrom rack, before we could finally enjoy our dinner at Vapiano. When we finished our dinner we were still willing to stay in the City.
That's why we decided to got to the Brooklyn bridge. I, myself was already tired when we reached the middle of the bridge and I dint even want to think about the way back, but it was worth it any way. I was able to take some really nice photos there! Now, when we all were really tired and just wanted to sleep, we went back to Tarrytown and as usual we slept on the train ride back.

On Sunday we wanted to go to Hoboken to see the skyline, but unfortunately it was so foggy, that we wouldn't have seen anything, so that we decided to go to the financial district instead. We went thru Wall Street, stopped at a Swedish cafe and made our way to the Staten Island Ferry.
We of course knew that riding the very that day was as ridicules as going to Hoboken, but we did it anyway, just because we were cold. Afterwards we went back to Campus, 'cause we couldn't afford to eat dinner somewhere in Manhattan.

See u.

Last 3 weeks started!

Hey,

Yesterday my last 3 weeks in New York begun! And although I'm still here in this wonderful city, a part of me already left and is on the way back to Germany.

3 weeks aren't long, especially if you consider how long I'm here for now. And there it's still so much I haven't seen and so much I won't be able to see in this short time. Some parts are nicer in summer and other parts are too dangerous in the winter time. However, I have to use those days I still have and make the best out of them!

Last weekend I went to Manhattan twice, even though I didn't have anything special to do. On Saturday I went to Manhattan with Marleen and Hannah. We just walked thru Manhattan and had dinner in a German restaurant afterwards. There I realized how much I missed German food! On Sunday we went to Manhattan again, but with some others girls as well! We had brunch in Central Park and walked the whole way down to the library afterwards.
I felt so tired, that I nearly felt asleep in the train back to Tarrytown around 5pm!

On Monday when I woke up, still really exhausted, I just wanted to take a shower, when my roommate told me, that it was snow day, and that my classes won't begin before 1pm. So I went to bed again. In the end I only had one class at 4pm, which was a movie class, but unfortunately I have to do a summary of that stupid episode we watched.
I really hoped that today will also be a snow day, but of course it wasn't.

See u.

Blizzard approaching

Hey,

As you might know New York is expecting the biggest Blizzard in History tonight. Therefore I decided to keep you updated on that.

3:20
School ends early due to the approaching Winterstorm names Juno, but it's still quite outside

4:45
Snow gets heavier, but is still copable I think. Let see what the night brings!

8:40
Didn't see any new snow for maybe 2 hours; still quiet.

10:30
Still no snow; still no storm

0:40
It finally started to snow and because do the wind the snow is coming from the side, but it's still not what I expected of New York biggest Blizzard.

11:15 Good Morning! I think the night was quiet, at least I can't see a lot of new snow. But now it's starting to snow heavier again.

11:30 Really heavy and fast moving snow, will Juno finally start here?

15:30
No snow for 2 hours! I think its over.

Musuem day

Hey,

We decided to visit the American Museum of Natural History weeks ago and finally did it yesterday, but we nearly had to cancel our trip due to the heavy snow Friday night - 3 inches (around 12 centimeters). Luckily the city didn't come to a total stop, so that we finally went there yesterday in the afternoon, but only after visiting Central Park and the Jacqueline Onassis Reservoir and Strawberry Fields.

The museum itself was pretty great, but compared to our expectations related to the movie night at the museum we were a little disappointed.
It's definitely a great museum, but in my opinion there are too many mammals and to less living animals. I mean: I know it's not an indoor zoo, but a little bit more liveness wouldn't do any harm.

Afterwards we went down to Union Square, where we did a little shopping; I need clothes for my internship; and ate dinner. For dinner we went to a restaurant called Vapiano, which is an Italian system-gastronomy, which was founded in Hamburg/ Germany in the early 20th century. I really enjoyed dinning there so much, especially because the pizza salame actually was pizza salame. Also their deserts and coffee is sooooo good. I really missed it here! Actually I have no idea why I didn't went there earlier.

We arrived back on Campus around 10pm and were sooo exhausted! We definitely did to much walking yesterday.

See u.
