My personal Halloween Experience

Hey,

Last Friday, the 31th it was Halloween! And Halloween in New York is supposed to be spectacular.
The Village Parade at Halloween is well-known and attracts thousands of tourists every year, related to that the city was really crowded. But my own Halloween experience was different, less spectacular and nerve-stretching.

Some friends and me planned to go to the Parade about a week before Halloween. We chose a train and knew exactly where to go, but than everything came different!
Some girls were late, so we missed the train. Related to that we took the same train than the other students and it became clear that we'll go to the Parade as a huge group.
We took the train at 5:30pm from Tarrytown Trainstation and reached Grand Central 1 hour later, so we just had 30 minutes to go to the Parade.
But, to my surprise our self-proclaimed leader thought that the Parade takes place at the Times Square! I mean why?
Some girls and me, who know where to go finally convinced the group to take the Subway to Spring Street, but that actually took us a long time, 'cause not all students had a metrocard.
When we finally reached the Spring Street, I thought that the group won't be disoriented again, but of course I was wrong! One student with an High-tech Navi leaded the group east instead of west, so I raised my voice again, but I took a long time to convince them to walk in the other direction.
When we got closer to the Avenue of the Americans, where the Parade took place, a police man told us that we need to walk north If we want to see the Parade and so we did, but just to go to the nearest Pizza Place! And I wasn't even able to buy a Pizza,'cause I had no more Cash with me, I mean New York is a Credit Card City!
Hungry and pissed off I stayed with the group. I didn't wanted to walk around alone at Halloween night, that would have been to scary for me!
When the others had finished their Pizza we walked south to Canal Street, where we joined the Parde for about 5 minutes until someone decided to go the Times Square, what an amazing idea, not!
But I went with them, as I told you previously, because I was alitlle scared.

We took the Subway, or should I say we attacked the subway? Whatever, in the Subway it was actually really funny. The others started a national hymn battle. So everyone just shouted their national hymn or whatever came to their mind. That moment I felt a little pitty for the people around us.
Reaching Times Square we searched our way to some kind of a bar, where we stayed about 30mins until we got kicked out. Then we splitter the group up, some students stayed at Tines Square, some went back to Grand Central, me as well.
We took the train around 22pm which was quite early, but okay. In Tarrytown some of us went into a bar, but I hungry as I was just went back to Campus to eat something and to get rid of my anger.

After all It was definitely not what I wanted to do on Halloween, and not what  I expected to happen.
Of course it was funny, at least sometimes, but I really wanted to see the Parade.

Luckily my roommate sent me a few photos from the Parade, so that I can share them.

See u.

Saturday -> Downtown Fun-Day

Hey,

On Saturday I felt much better, so I decided to go to the city. I took the train at 1:01 at Tarrytown and than the Subway 6 to Union Square, where my perfect Saturday really begun!
I made my way west towards the Hudson River along the 14th Street. I stopped at 9th Avenue to take some photos and continued my way to Chelsea Market.

There I took the stairs up to the High Line, which I walked until the end at Gansevoort street, when I saw a Harvest Fest going on at the corner of 9th avenue.
The band playing was really good and the apple pie by bubby's was delicious, even If I sat myself into the rest of another apple pie -.- I had a lot of fun at the fest.

I continued my way thru Greenwich Village and Meatpacking District until I reached the famous, original Magnolia Bakery. As expected the line was huge, so I just took a photo. Instead I went into a cheese store, which has really sold my favorite cheese! I really wanted to buy a piece, but good cheese in the US is sooooo expensive! A pound of this special cheese would have cost me about $30, which is insane compared to 10€ ($17) in Germany!

Walking along the Bleeker street I entered SoHo, where I visited one of my favorite Boutiques DASH and some other stores without buying anything - so proud of me.
Later I went thru Little Italy and Chinatown, which was absolutely amazing! It's like you enter a total different world! Just for interest I went into a Chinese supermarket and you could see the difference on first sight! There were hanging real fishes on the wall! I never saw something like that before, I swear!

All in all this Saturday was one of my best Saturdays in New York so far! Meatpacking District and Bleeker Street are now my favorite spots in the City! I really enjoyed it!

Mall Days

Hey,

This week I went to the Mall twice, to find a Halloween costume, but guess what, I didn't find one -.-
On Tuesday I bought a new party outfit, because I wanted to go out with my Roomies on Friday, related to one if them having Birthday. And I bought a shoe clean kit, for my Steve Madden heals.

On Thursday I planned to do nothing except sleeping, 'cause I was tired as shit. But than my roommates asked if I would like to go to the movies with them, so we went to the mall again.
There I just bought the birthday present for my Roomie and a clutch. The movie we watched was called "The best of me" and it was so sad. I really cried at the end! I never cry at the movies usually!

All in all the day was really awesome, even though I bought my party outfit and haven't worn it yet, because I was sick on Friday.

Level up

Hey guys,

I'm so happy that I passed the progress test! I'm on level C1.1 now, which is advanced English skills.

New level, new classes, new goals.
With the beginning of the level the classes don't really got harder, but I've the feeling that we do more, so that we don't spent so much time on stuff everybody already know, even If there is still stuff, which isn't knew to me at all!
For example, today we "learned" perfect tenses. I'm rather sure I learned that 100 times. And we started reading a book: the giver. In my opinion this book is okay. I've never been the person loving school books. I'd better like to spent my freetime differently.

Btw, I've got Netflix and I'm so excited to watch my favorite series 90210 again. I nearly spent 1,5h with it a Day.

See u.

Fun Friday: Backing

Hey guys,

Today we had our Fun Friday! Therefor my class and me went to Lugari kitchen and made Pancakes, French Toast, Candied Apples and Apple Pie.
It was so much Fun and of course super delicious, but now I feel like I couldn't eat sugar again for the rest of my life.
I never had a favor for sugar, but I had to try all this food, because when else would I get the chance to eat self made Pie in the USA?

I really enjoyed it, but in better go to the gym one and stay there forevere. :D

The great Jack o'Lantern Blaze

Hey,

I went to the Blaze yesterday and It was really cool! At first I had no idea what to expect, because I never heard of it before, but when I looked it up on the Internet I decided immediately to go there.
What is the blaze? Well, the blaze is kind of a pumpkin exhibition. The pumpkins are carved in really unique ways and there are statues and Halloween inspired installations. It's quite hard to explain, so I just let you take a look at my photos.

But after all I really recommend going there once, If you're in New York over Halloween.

See u.
